- AMA Pro Road Racing Competition Award Overview #2012-05 - Vance & Hines XR1200 Series XR Showdown Points Fund
AMA Pro Racing is proud to announce the introduction of the XR Showdown, a $60,000 year-end points fund that riders in the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series will be competing for during the 2012 AMA Pro Road Racing season. The XR Showdown, which is supported by Vance & Hines and the Harley-Davidson Motor Company, will begin when there are five races remaining on the 2012 schedule. The top ten riders in the XR1200 Series point standings at that time will be eligible for XR Showdown points, which will be paid for each of the five remaining events on the schedule. The rider with the most XR Showdown points at the end will take home $25,000 in prize money, with the remaining $35,000 in the points fund to be paid out to second through tenth in the final XR Showdown point standings.

For the 2012 season, AMA Pro Racing will distribute $15,000 to riders in the form of year-end contingency awards as part of the Sunoco “Go the Distance” Contingency Award Program.

AMA Pro Racing will distribute a total of $5,500 to AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike riders in the form of contingency awards as part of the MotoBatt “Hard Charger Award” Contingency Award Program.

Riders who are participating in AMA Pro Road Racing’s GoPro Daytona SportBike division for the first time may apply for the Saddlemen Rookie of the Year award. In order to register for the program, riders must not have competed in Daytona SportBike prior to the 2012 season. The $5,000 year-end award will go to the eligible rider who earns the most points in the GoPro Daytona SportBike rider championship.

The $2,000 Cortech “Performance Edge Award” will go to the AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike rider who posts the highest number of “fastest lap of the race” in event finals during the 2012 season.
