While we're slow here in the midst of the off season, I figured I would
chime in and give everyone an update on what I've been up to over the
past couple of weeks. I've been trying hard to stay busy during the
winter, and I think I have succeeded!
A couple weeks back I decided it would be a good idea to head out to
California to attend the Long Beach IMS show. The area down there is the
stomping ground of many people and companies that are deeply involved in
our sport, so I wanted to put myself out there to do some networking. I
was able to re-connect with many of my friends and supporters, as well
as, meet new people and potential sponsors! I think the trip was
definitely worth while, and I would like to attend more IMS shows. I
also signed autographs in the AMA Pro/Motorcycle-Superstore.com booth
both Friday and Saturday at the show. We have a ton of fans out that way!
After the show I got my first taste of mountain biking in southern
California. I had only been mountain biking once before and that was
back home in NY, so I was interested to see what was in store for me. I
was heading out with Josh Hayes and Chaz Davies, so I knew what they had
up their sleeve would definitely be fun but a lot of work. After one day
on the trails, I am officially hooked! Typically I do a lot of road
riding, but I really liked mixing it up and enjoyed the challenge of the
terrain. I think a bicycle purchase is somewhere in my near future...
then later in the afternoon Melissa Paris and I headed out on a nice
road ride down the coast.
Monday we had rain, and lot's of it - a rarity in Oceanside where I was
staying with Josh, Melissa and Chaz. I decided to take the day and make
a trip up to see some friends at Electric Visual and Shimano, some of my
supporters. Tuesday continued to rain, but cleared up in the afternoon
and we all headed out on a bigger road ride. We met up with Cal
Crutchlow that day, and as you would imagine I was over the top to be
riding with three champions of such a caliber! I turned into a sponge
and tried to learn everything I could about fitness, and definitely took
some things away that I'll be applying to my own training.
Now some of you might be expecting some news on my 2012 season, but all
I can say is that things are shaping up for next year! You should expect
to see me back in the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 Series again. I can't
wait to get things buttoned up and get ready for Daytona, but for now
I'll keep working to put everything together.
