What can I say?

I was on a bit of a high after Laguna Seca. It was the biggest round of the year with thousands and thousands of fans and 55 riders trying to make the grid in SuperSport. To qualify in 13th out of 55 was an amazing feeling. I was definitely pumped. Nearly highsided on the first lap in turn 3 which lost me a bunch of positions but managed to grab back most of them by the end of the race finishing 15th. I felt I had a top 10 in me that day but I was still really happy with the overall result. Then came New Jersey!

I got to feel the other end of the stick at New Jersey. I suffered right out of the gate with handling and clutch issues which only compounded the problems of learning the track. The first qualifier was miserable and I was on the last row of the grid. I thought we had a better setup after making some changes after Q1 but Q2 was a bust as it had rained and the track was soaked. Nope, I was starting on the back row which was a horrible feeling. The races went well. I picked up 15 positions in race 1 from some passing and some attrition and finished 22nd from a 37th place start. Race two was the same and I finished 23rd after the race was red-flagged early. It was a tough, tough weekend all around but my team never gave up and continued working on the bike all weekend long.

I am pumped for Miami-Homestead as I need to get a better finish than New Jersey. Its a track that not a lot of people have experience on in AMA Pro Racing so hopefully it creates better odds than what I have had this year.

Also I am excited to race with the staff of Motorcyclist Magazine, September 29-30 in a 24 hour endurance race. We will be racing a little Honda MB5 in this special race and we are trying to raise money for the Riders For Charity organization who deliver medicine and other supplies to remote areas of Africa!

Hope to see more friends and fans at Miami!
