K. Wyman: In The Middle of VIRginias
NEWS August 11, 2010
This is my first blog! I have some down time this week hanging out at the campground in Virginia between last weekend’s WERA event and the AMA Pro Racing event coming up in a few days. It’s great to have some time to relax, do some cycling and stay fresh preparing for the weekend.
Last week I had the opportunity to run the 4-hour WERA National Endurance race with Melissa Paris. It was great to get a whole ton of track time on the track we’ll be racing at for the pro race this weekend. We went out there with one goal; to stay on two wheels and maybe see where we ended up at the end of the race. Going into the last hour we had the lead! I got back on the bike with about 45 minutes left in the race with a 2 lap gap over second place in the Middleweight class. I tried to stay smooth and do my job but unfortunately we lost a motor with only 20 minutes left. We were pretty bummed, going into the race with no expectations and being that close to victory. Regardless, I had a lot of fun riding her Yamaha YZF-R6 and it really ramped me up and gave me some confidence knowing that the track is fresh in my mind as we move into next weekend.
I’m really looking forward to coming out there on Friday with one weekend under my belt and competing in my 4th AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike race. The season has been filled with up and downs so far but I’m going to try to keep improving and get closer to my goals of being in the top 10. Also, the Vance & Hines XR1200 Series has been some of the best fun I’ve had on a motorcycle this year. With two 4th place finishes behind me I’m hoping to keep pushing forward on my RMR/Bruce Rossmeyer Daytona Racing bike, get closer to my teammates Jake Holden and Danny Eslick and stand on the podium with them! It’s been a great opportunity for me to ride two classes and keep getting that valuable track time on two completely different machines, and I can’t wait to get back to the track!
