Daytona International Speedway will once again play host to GEICO Motorcycle AMA Pro Road Racing as the series kicks off a new season with the DAYTONA 200 Week, scheduled for March 14 – 16, 2013. The highlight of the week is the DAYTONA 200, a 200-mile endurance spectacular featuring the stars of AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike.

At the 71st running of the historic race in 2012, then-defending DAYTONA 200 champ Jason DiSalvo recorded the fastest laptime for the GoPro Daytona SportBike division recorded to date around Daytona International Speedway’s 3.51-mile traditional motorcycle course. His efforts weren’t enough to capture the win though, as rival Joey Pascarella executed a flawless race to take the checkered flag by a mere .048 seconds over the field.

In AMA Pro National Guard SuperBike, Blake Young and Josh Hayes flip flopped finishing positions in the two race finals. Hayes took the first race by a landslide over the field with Young coming in second. Young then edged out a surprised Hayes during the second race, beating him by just .002 seconds. In AMA Pro Motorcycle-Superstore.com SuperSport, James Rispoli took the season’s first win, his first of four he recorded en route to his second consecutive National championship. Elena Myers then made history by becoming the first female to ever win a professional race at Daytona International Speedway. The AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series didn’t disappoint either as Kyle Wyman claimed the checkered flag for his first of four victories on the year, and his second consecutive Daytona victory in the class.
