DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 23, 2013) – If it’s not broke, fix it. Elena Myers plans on riding a 2013 Triumph Daytona 675R at Road America next week after competing on a 2012 Triumph Daytona 675R at Daytona International Speedway during Round 1 and becoming the first female to ever win a professional motorsports race at the historic venue. However, even after the stellar achievements she has concurred in her young career, Myers was still uncertain whether or not she would even have a ride for the remainder of the 2013 season.

Fortunately for Myers, she was recently picked up by Castrol/Triumph/Apex Manufacturing and will compete at Road America aboard a No. 21 Triumph with all of the same crew members that backed her at the season opener. The extended layover between Round 1 at Daytona and Round 2 at Road America might have served as a blessing in disguise for the 19-year-old as she has already been able to complete two tests on her new bike and intends to undergo another round of testing this weekend at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Ill.

“I’m excited to have a ride for Road America,” said Myers. “I love the long straightaways that the track has to offer and feel like the 2013 Triumph Daytona 675R is going to be a rocket ship at Road America. I’m thrilled to have all of my guys back from Daytona because I know they give me a great chance to compete with all of the hard work that they put in.”

When asked whether or not she felt any added pressure being a female in a male-dominated sport, Myers responded with: “The only added pressure I feel is the pressure I put on myself. I know that my guys are confident in me and I’m definitely confident in myself. I have the same goals as every other rider out there, and that’s to win races.”

Myers is definitely one of the up-and-coming stars of the sport and is an icon for so many aspiring female motorcyclists. Look for Myers, mounted on her new ride, to perform at the very high level that she’s capable of next week when the series heads to Elkhart Lake, Wis. for the Subway SuperBike Doubleheader at Road America on May 31-June 2, 2013.
