Birmingham, AL (June 21, 2013) – Returning to the track where he had a breakthrough perfect weekend last year--earning pole, winning both races, and leading the most laps in each of those races--Cameron Beaubier put his #6 Yamaha Extended Service/Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha YZF-R6 on the provisional pole today in AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike qualifying at Barber Motorsports Park, while his teammate Garrett Gerloff qualified fifth and is in the hunt to move up in tomorrow morning’s final qualifying session.
After provisional qualifying, Cameron said, “There’s something pretty special about this track. It really suits me, and every time I go out on it, I enjoy it more and more. I’m feeling really good about my Y.E.S./Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha R6, and I have a lot of confidence going into tomorrow.”
“We’re still working on the bike a little bit,” Garrett said. “It’s not exactly where I want it yet. I went out on track early after the red flag, to try to get some clean laps, but my rear tire was pretty used up by then. I think tomorrow will be better for me, with cooler temperatures in the morning. I’m looking forward to it.”
Final qualifying for Daytona SportBike is scheduled for tomorrow at 8:50 AM CST, and DSB Race 1 will go green later tomorrow at 1:00 PM CST.
